What did you think of her at first?

I didn’t think poorly of her or anything, but I just thought she was kind of expressionless and dull, and she faded into the background in comparison to the other characters

But that’s entirely incorrect

She is extremely interesting and emotive!! Her facial expressions are among some of the most varied, actually!! And politely threatening to dump a toilet on Vriska’s head while she is bullying Tavros is one of my favourite things any of the characters does because Vriska deserves a toilet on her head. And also offering to have a dress-up day with Rose to lead her off the path of eldritch magickes. And also how cool she is to everyone (until they start murdering people I guess, but that’s understandable)! Generally she is pretty great and I never noticed. I think I was merely misled by her typing quirk, which is a lot less in-your-face than a lot of the others.

Kanaya: actually pretty great if you just pay attention for five seconds and stop being completely bewildered by how little you understand of the plot
