  • Oh man, you guys, I’ve been at home for like TWO HOURS and I haven’t yet told about my work day! What was I THINKING??

The store ran out of two vital retail ingredients today:

    1. work hours
    2. carrier bags

I was the only permanent member of staff on tills until 12pm! I had to keep calling the shop floor staff, so then they fell behind in their work! Then when till staff arrived they got sent home or had their shifts cut in half to save on hours! It was precisely as terrible as you are probably imagining!!

As for the carrier bags, WELL. When I left there were four hours of store opening time left, and only a few hundred of the teeny tiny bags for sunglasses or single packs of socks. And we’re not getting any more in UNTIL TUESDAY!!! And who wants to bet that customers will decide this is the fault of the cashier serving them and will complain and throw around vitriol like they just won five vitriol lotteries? I ASSUREDLY DO.

Not to mention that tomorrow is both the start of Eid (Eid Mubarak to ch’all!) and the start of at least two members of staffs’ summer breaks so I reckon we’re gonna be kind of understaffed for the next couple of days, I’m already covering a few peoples’ shifts, so I’m working nine hours tomorrow and Monday and THERE ARE NO CARRIER BAGS and THERE WILL NOT BE ENOUGH STAFF

Oh the many and varied joys of retail
