Been there, spent that!
!!!
Did… did the movie stars… come into the movie theatre and like… platonically play with your hair while the movie was on or…… what was… so special about the cinema…………
YES OMG my sister and i will be in London for a couple days around New Years, and I may be staying an extra few if I get a ticket to Cabin Pressure on the 6th!
AWW YEAH!!
whoah i am so up for friendzonin’ the heck out of some friends. i’ll be in london around new years probably (but could maybe make the trip some other time too WHO KNOWS)
AAWWWW YEAHHH
OH MAN THIS IS REALLY EXCITING :D IT’S LIKE WE’RE ALL PEOPLE WHO EXIST ON THE SAME PHYSICAL PLANE AND CAN MEET UP IN PERSON? WHOA, MAN!!
OK!! SO it looks like maybe New Years would be a good time for this event to take place! Plucking a date from that week more or less at random, would the third (a Thursday) suit anybody?
I will tag all known participants of The Friendzone Operation in this post to allow for BROADER DISCUSSION, yo (everythingyouweretooafraidtoask, I know this doesn’t suit you but I can probs try to schedule ANOTHER AMAZING MEETUP around the end of March!)
(Also! If anybody is like, “oh man I did want to come but now I can’t because that’s a week I DEFINITELY CAN’T DO” then NO WORRIES because who’s to say that this will be Friendzone Operation SINGULAR? NOBODY, that’s who)
Oh also I will include a question mark for ease of response
?
My daughter and I will be in London at the end of March! We’d definitely do a meetup.
I will PUT THAT ON THE LIST that I am about to start keeping! I guess I’ll even make a tag specifically for this event, to keep track?
In case it’s a thing that really happens, and doesn’t fold like a house of cards on a blustery day…
The caramel Koalas are my favorite!
WAIT YEAH maybe the caramel one WAS a koala? I don’t… remember… It’s been a very long since I had a Freddo of any description.
Yeah, we have a million different types of Freddos here (mint and strawberry ones are the best). They’re loads more expensive but also, I think, a lot nicer. I tried a British Freddo when I was there the first time and it made me sad :C
Yeah!! I saw a selection of them in a ‘Rocket Candy’ shop, which stocks candies from all across the globe (I dunno if they are UKcentric, I’ll explain them anyway JUST IN CASE). There were a LOT. I’m not a fan of experimenting with food (or anything! But food also) so I didn’t try any, but some of them looked really interesting!
Is the chocolate different? I’ve tried American chocolate and it’s WAY different, just like that Simpsons episode where they come to London and Bart/Lisa get drunk of sugar-rich British chocs. I mean, Hershey chocolate is kind of smokey and flavourless and weird! I was dismayed. After that experience I haven’t been keen on US sweets.
Also that thing with the Mars Bars? What’s up with that!
CULTURAL DIFFERENCES.
FASCINATING, I’ll keep an eye out in the shops for them!
I RECOMMEND IT!! They aren’t AMAZING but they are a cultural icon so it’s worth at least trying one, to say that you did.
When my daughter and I visit England in March I’m taking her to Forbidden Planet so she can geek out on all the Doctor Who stuff.
GOOD PLAN. I go in there occasionally and just stand around looking at things. I don’t need any of it, strictly speaking, but it’s just so GLORIOUS!
I help unload our truck four times a week and some of us wear golf, automotive or other sports gloves to help. If they have a leather or rubber grip that helps.
Hmm hm hm hmmmm! Good ideas! I just don’t think wearing gloves on the tills is a viable option, unfortunately :/ Customers would think it was weird. The touch screen wouldn’t respond so well. I’d have to answer QUESTIONS about it. AUGH.
I’ll just have to tough it out, I guess. Goddamn hands. What they even good for? Nothing, that’s what.
Would wearing work gloves help at all?
Mm possibly! Fabric gloves don’t help because FABRIC ON MY HANDS OH MY GOD WHO THOUGHT THAT COULD BE A GOOD IDEA but I used to wear rubber gloves when I worked in food services, and until I took them off (at which point it felt terrible) they were fairly good.
But… I’d have to come up with some excuse to start bringing in and wearing my own rubber gloves…
It’s probably easier just to deal with being uncomfortable for a few hours a day tbh, but I will bear the idea in mind
I usually carry some hand sanitizer with me, I work retail too.
It’s not even about hygiene, unfortunately :/ Usually just running water over me ‘ands will do the trick, and a lot of hand soaps or sanitisers actually make matters worse because they feel slick for a while afterwards!
If I could suspend my hands in bottles of water for the rest of my life with no one thinking of it as completely weird, I’d give it some serious thought
You might want to see if there’s an update for it.
Oh right! Thank you! I wasn’t actually aware it did updates and haven’t updated it since I installed it, so maybe that’s the key
We’ll soon find out
I had to do something similar! I kept reminding myself I was saving up for my trip to England.
I’m not even saving up for anything in particular so I haven’t got that motivation :C
I’m just hoarding money because I’m living in fear of the day when someone taps me on the shoulder and says I have to pay the Adult Charge and they take a lot of my savings away…
Which is, I’m reasonably certain, a real thing that happens
