I was that kid too, in PE (I was terrible and always had to pick the team to be on because no one wanted me) and in all other things. My religion teacher told me that she was afraid of looking directly at me because the attention would make me cry.

Yes! Team Cry At Everything is assembling!! Yeah I picked the PE teachers for the illustration but I’m reasonably certain that I had a teacher see me cry for every subject except maybe ‘Philosophy and Ethics’ which was boring and didn’t feel like it played a major role in my education.

Oh man that sucks. Yesterday there was a lady who kept insisting everything was on sale, so I had to get a manager to help with her. So about 10 minutes later I finally got her checked out, and she went to the next register to have them go through the receipt and make sure everything was taken off.

UGH UGH UGH when the customers go to another member of staff to try and get a different answer / confirm your stupidity, that is one of the worst things! UUUUGH

Similarly one of the fraudulent underwear returners was very angry that I hadn’t given her her receipt when I had. She took all the receipts out of her bag and snottily demanded “where is it then?”. I picked it up from the pile and gave it to her and she stormed off without a word, at which point I picked up her bag to throw it away and found the “”“missing”“” price tags…

Rude customers uuuuugh

Ew. This is why I refuse to be register trained and start work at five in the morning, three hours before our store opens. I have zero patience for BS anymore and I’m sick of people being so entitled and having tantrums.

GOOD. CALL. Being entitled and having tantrums sums it up exactly, and the Deliberately Physically Intimidating Male Customers make me wish it was OK to put on a clipped English accent and say “You’re having hysterics! Snap out of it!!” and slap them soundly across the face. For their own good, of course.

Yeah I’m thinking about asking for night shifts for that reason, I mean they start and finish at times when it’s safe to be walking around on my own so there’s not really a problem… But tomorrow and the day after I’m gettin’ trained in some admin duties so I won’t be on the shop floor AT ALL!! I’m not allowed on the tills AT ALL!!! It makes the 6.30 wake-up almost worthwhile!!!!

And on that note… I’m going to bed

I had a string of REALLY UNPLEASANT and DISHONEST customers at work today

I told one guy I couldn’t give him a return and then my manager said I could, because she’s the manager so she can do that. I’m not the manager, so I can’t. This was explained to him repeatedly but seemed to go over his head. As I was trying to do the return he loudly and furiously told me “USE YOUR DISCRETION SOMETIMES. DON’T YOU HAVE EYES? THIS IS YOUR PRODUCT. YOU CAN SEE THAT. USE YOUR DISCRETION. THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT A CUSTOMER.” It was pretty intimidating because he was leaning on the desk and deliberately making eye contact and repeating himself endlessly, unsatisfied with every answer, even though he was getting what he wanted anyway. Every time he snapped something I would remind him that I couldn’t use my discretion because I wasn’t a manager and that isn’t how the chain of command works, and he would continue to shout!! Fortunately the manager in question is very good and came back to sharply tell ‘im how unnecessary his continued arguments were since he was getting what he wanted anyway. He did then shut up. Such a dick.

Another woman came in claiming that she’d been sold underwear without price/size tags, so she’d accidentally bought the wrong size. A system check revealed that the tags had been attached at purchase, and when she later stormed away in a huff she left behind her carrier back, which contained the price tags she had claimed never to have seen.

ANOTHER woman came in claiming that the size on the hanger of her underwear item had been incorrect so she’d also been sold the wrong size of underwear. The underwear hangers don’t have sizes on them. My manager said she would do an exchange anyway as a good will gesture because the item had only been bought the day before, and the customer took offence at the term “good will gesture” and got into an argument about how it was in her STATUTORY RIGHTS to have an exchange so it wasn’t good will it was the LAW!!! and how dare we try to make it look like we were doing her a favour!!! Even though we were doing her a favour because it’s not the law that we have to take underwear back if we state we won’t in our policy, which we do.

People, eh

Gotta tolerate ‘em for the sake of politeness
